POWERS & ABILITIES

Light Manipulation:

Levi has the ability to bend light around him. During his early life it was very subtle but in the last few months it has flared up and become more of a problem as it has many potentially inconvenient applications:

Blindness: Levi could take anyone's sight away by manipulating the light around them. In time he could also learn to cause sensory deprivation if he could get enough concentrated light to hit a target's eyes at the right angle. 

Invisibility: He can make anything invisible from a particular angle. In a large, crowded room, it would be difficult to keep something invisible for every person present as vision is all about the reflection of light and angles but he could make an object invisible to a particular target. 

Heat: With enough light going to one place, he could learn to create heat. Of course, enough light would have to be present as he cannot create new light-- only manipulate what is already there. 

Light naturally bends toward Levi as he moves. It takes him very little time outside to get a decent sunburn if he's not paying attention. Since some of his ability is passive, he spends a lot of time losing things and having no idea that they're right in front of him. He still doesn't know much about his ability but he knows that something is different about him. 

BRIEF HISTORY

• Parents: mother is Japanese, father is Irish. maternal grandparents were born in japan and came to america when they were young. mother spent most of her life in new york city and faced a lot of discrimination during world war ii. she survived imprisonment in a Japanese internment camp and met levi's father shortly after being released. although she and levi's father had a good relationship, they were not together for long after levi was born. levi's mother gave birth to a bastard son and raised him on her own. 

• Manhattan: in 1954, levi's mother opened up a restaurant for traditional Japanese food. when he got old enough, levi spent most days working at the restaurant serving, greeting, and washing dishes. he liked staying busy and they got to know a lot of people in the area pretty quickly. 

• Diagnosis: in 1967, levi started having problems with losing things. things would disappear right in front of him and it became very common for him to not be able to find something, or for him to walk into things because he didn't see them. his mother had his eyes tested and when it came back that they were normal, he tried to explain that it wasn't that he couldn't see things-- it was that they were literally disappearing. it started off with small things and then he started losing people, cars, buildings. this got him nearly hit by cars several times a day. it got him bumping into people on the sidewalk. it got him lost because the building he needed to get to was just gone. he insisted that things were disappearing over and over until he was sent to a psychiatrist. he is currently being treated for psychosis and his irritability regarding taking drugs he doesn't need has only made people think he needs to be medicated more. 

• Xavier: charles eventually found levi while in a psychiatric facility and was able to explain to him that he probably wasn't crazy and since then he's been training at the mansion.
