POWERS & ABILITIES

Cessily is what one would call a metal polymorph. That is, her body is made of a liquid non-toxic mercury form which has made her a non-carbon based life form on a molecular level. This makes her capable of altering her body in just about any way she can imagine, from altering her size and shape to elongating her body in various ways, as well as expanding her mass across a fair bit of distance, this form is exceptionally malleable even to the point she can alter her density to be liquid or solid. This offers her a form of near-invulnerability as she can harden her form to be stronger than steel or practically soften her form to where she becomes a shapeless puddle on the ground. With some creativity, Cessily can alter the shape of her body on just a cosmetic scale such as creating spikes, makeshift armor, shields, weapons, and possibly tools if need be. Cessily also has shown she no longer needs food, water, or oxygen like a normal human, allowing her to survive on self-sustenance and may hint at a form of immortality or longevity.

In addition, there seem to be other facets of Cessily’s powers. She is capable of adhering to solid surfaces, allowing her to cling to just about any surface at any angle and may be capable of changing her colors since her hair has remained its original red color. Finally, Cessily has some resistance to telepathy as well as magic, being hard to detect in this state and has an unknown means of resisting magic for a time.

But, even a polymorph like Cessily has her weaknesses. Her most obvious weakness is being conductive to electricity, which can stun her as well as cause her form to become unstable. Extreme temperatures can also heavily effect Cessily, getting too hot can cause her form to become softer and harder to keep together or move as she wills it to while colder temperature can cause her to solidify and slow down, the worst case being her becoming totally immobilized. Much of the time, Cessily has to concentrate to keep her form as it is now, requiring sometimes more than a subconscious thought to remain in a human-like shape and she is unable to also alter any clothing she wears, leaving quite a bit of room for embarrassment. Personality wise, Cessily has become incredibly insecure about her status as a mutant and easily upset or angered when it’s mentioned, not helped by the fact she has been rejected by her parents for her “condition”. Her lack of confidence and feeling of social isolation also seems to have afflicted how well she is in-tune with her powers, much less how much she truly has changed or is willing to accept.

Cessily’s skills outside her powers primarily include dance and some gymnastics due to her involvement with cheerleading. It could be said Cessily is also quite attentive towards what goes on around her, usually having known most of the gossip going on at her school and is quite adept at getting information most would not well before her powers.

BRIEF HISTORY

Cessily Kincaid is an Irish-American girl, born as the old child to Ellis and Jill Kincaid.

Life before Cessily’s mutation set in could be described as almost the ideal, perfect life if you were to ask her to describe it. As the only child of Ellis and Jill, Cessily was dotted upon by her parents especially with being their only daughter. Though the family was not rich, they were well off, allowing the young girl to live a comfortable, if somewhat spoiled, life. Albeit, Cessily was still expected to do chores, schoolwork, as well as keep her head on right. A good balance of spoiled and held accountable for any responsibilities and actions.

But, Cessily seemed to have it all outside of her family as well. Growing up, she was always considered the well-rounded individual, a talented dancer and decent gymnast and the pretty popular girl when she got older. She did well in her studies, was very sociable to everyone (with the occasional enemy due to her tendency to get involved with gossip), and heavily involved in school events. Most of all, Cessily was highly dedicated to her cheerleading, having been involved since she was in middle school and did competitive cheerleading with her high school in Portland, Oregon. With good friends, a loving family, and seeming to have her life worked out, one would think Cessily had it all, right?

Everything changed shortly after Cessily turned 16. One weekend while she was getting ready, Cessily noticed half her face had turned a metallic color. Out of fear, she rushed to her parents for help but soon began to lose her shape altogether, becoming a puddle of liquid mercury while begging for her parents’ help. Horrified, the Kincaids managed to calm their daughter down, but showed visible revulsion to the change. For a while after, the Kincaids kept Cessily hidden, feeling ashamed for their daughter’s apparent “condition”, lying that she had been sent off to a boarding school for better opportunities. This isolation devastated Cessily, feeling like a freak and outright denying what she was for several months, but still came to have a subconscious thought to keep herself in a normal state yet falling into a deep depression.

Though, those feelings turned to anger and betrayal as her parents didn’t hesitate to ship her off to Westchester when the X-Men came knocking. With no other options, Cessily went and is now struggling to find purpose and solace in her situation, starting with trying to accept her status as a mutant.
