POWERS & ABILITIES

At the moment, Lance is best described as something of a late bloomer with his powers. But, in recent years Lance has shown himself to be a pyrokinetic, being able to control fire in various ways with his flames being white to bluish white to full blue in color. On a basic level, Lance has found he can generate his own flames allowing him to create streams of fire, fireballs, fire constructs, as well as a small fiery discharge from his hands, feet, and mouth, often his eyes glowing with blue flames from them. These flames are extremely hot to the point of easily burning rock and removing traces of carbon, burning at a whopping 2600 to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit at their max but this temperature can be brought to safer, non-harmful levels.

In time however, Lance’s powers will manifest as his body simply being a sort of vessel. When they fully manifest he will resemble something akin to a stony fire golem, covered in a rough, rocky hide of burning carbon with cracks along his form that reveal the burning inferno raging in his body, more visible around his eyes, nose, and mouth as well as making up his “hair”. This rocky hide gives Lance a whole new layer of strength and durability at its thickest layers but occasionally will need to be “shed” when becoming too heavy. This also greatly increases his control and potency of his fire.

But, Lance does have his downsides. For one, his emotions can heavily affect his powers, such as being angered or upset can cause him to lose control or being clam and focused allows him to be in better control. The fire he controls is one he generated himself and cannot control outside sources. As he used his powers the more his true form begins to show itself, which in the future will heavily slow him down the more layers that are made, requiring him to “shed” this rocky hide which can leave him vulnerable. He also must be careful of the temperatures he used and his surroundings, as he can easily go overboard, overexert himself, or harm others. 

As the son of a New York socialite family, Lance is well-verses in the social scene, from understanding cues to reading body language, and has self-taught for acting in certain situations. He is an excellent athlete as well as having a keen, sharp mind. Even before college, he has a relative grasp of how businesses operate and business management, and is currently enrolled to seek degrees in Business Management and Research Development as well as a Minor in History.

BRIEF HISTORY

Lance comes from a long line of business men and women, as far back as when New York first began as a colony to what it is today. So, it is no surprise that his father, Samuel Bond, expresses a great deal of pride to come from “old money” as the saying goes. Lance’s father not only inherited the old family fortunate but has also made money working as a stock broker and investment representative while his mother, Andra Bond, has worked her way through being an accountant for Samuel. Eventually, Lance and then his brother would be born to the family.

And as expected from them, the boys were raised with a strict expectation of how to act, look, and what they did. Being the oldest, Lance was expected to carry on the family legacy. Though, his start in life was initially filled with uncertainties as his mutation subtly asserted itself from when he was born. His body was unusually hot and his skin developed rough, red patches which greatly concerned his parents. But, after many tests nothing was found to be physically wrong with the child and after a while his rashes passed and the doctors came to assume his body temperature would just be odd. It was not unusual for individuals to have different body temperatures. Such symptoms remained as Lance grew older, but was paid no mind. Eventually, it became a normal thing and his parents had him enlisted in all sorts of sports from soccer to football to martial arts and track and field. He was also expected to attend etiquette classes of which his brother, Trevor, was also pushed to do.

Though compared to Trevor, Lance had far greater scrutiny and pressure put on him. So, he relished in the times he could be away from home, more so when meeting one of his best friends, a lizard-like mutant whom went by the name of Scales. Lance and Scales had been childhood friends since they were young, especially since the young mutant’s mother worked on the estate. Lance had many friends at school, some of which came and went by the time of middle school and high school, but Scales was a constant presence to the point the two were inseparable.

That is until both were 17 and juniors in high school.

Despite at the time dating a young woman from their school, a moment between the two would change everything between them. While hanging out by the back of the school by the outside cafeteria area, Scales openly expressed an interest towards Lance, admitting to having a long-time crush which shocked the young red head. But, it was not rejection that put a wedge in their friendship, but rather Lance’s own curiosity and carelessness, briefly sharing a kiss with Scales...which happened just as Trevor caught the two. Startled by his brother’s sudden intrusion, Lance pulled away while Scales bolted out of fear and being the last time Lance ever saw his friend again. Getting home that night, Lance and his father got into a particularly nasty fight, enough the anger and fury Lance felt triggered blue flames to emanate from his knuckles and hands startling his family. It was then Samuel, prejudice against those he considered freaks and “imperfect”, denounced his son and kicked him out.

The only saving grace however was his mother. Still close to her oldest son, Andra helped arrange for Lance to get a decent apartment in Manhatttan and work at a recreation center as an assistant coach to get on his feet while she made occasional deposits every two weeks. Now graduated, Lance decided to pursue college to better his future while his powers have began to gain traction in showing themselves, little by little every day it seems.
