POWERS & ABILITIES

Ha Lien may not be aware of it yet but her mutation entails size manipulation. Mostly this will be the manipulation of her own size proportionally. In the near future when her powers manifest it will be in the form of Ha Lien unintentionally changing her size to 50 feet. Now this state will only be achieved unintentionally by Hal Lien when she is conscious. Meaning she will revert to her normal 5 feet tall when asleep or knocked out. As Ha Lien develops her powers their is the potential of her being a able to maintain her normal height but at the moment and for the time being she doesn’t know how, also in Ha Lien’s development of her powers I would say it is very likely that she could learn how to shrink her size as well but at the moment that is out of the realm of Ha Lien’s skill. No Ha Lien cannot manipulate the sizes of other things.. yet.. however when achieves that development in her skills I would say it would have to be tied with the size of Ha Lien herself and focus, for example Ha Lien could focus on or hold and Apple someday and be able to grow herself to 50 feet or more and the Apple grows to that size proportionally as well but that is way down Ha Liens development path after a lot of in character training and practice.

Also it is important to note that Ha Lien is durable and strong relative to her size.

BRIEF HISTORY

1. Ha Lien came from humble origins in a village called Xuan Hoa, near the city of Soc Trang in South Vietnam. This is where she along with her fourteen siblings helping her families farm animals and grow food to sell at market. Ha Lien from an early age loved the Catholic faith and still does to this day. Often she will pray to Saint Helen whom is her a namesake.
2. Ha Lien is informed that their are decent paying jobs at military base in the city of Soc Trang. Ha Lien got herself a job working as a PX (post exchange) cashier on the base during weekdays while on weekends she sometimes worked as a laundry worker on base with other local woman.
3. It was at this military base that she met the man that would become her husband. She remembers very clearly how he came once to deliver his underwear to her to clean and dropped them for god knows wha reason causing the basket of undies to spill. Fortunately for Hiram, Ha Lien has a sense of humor and found it somewhat cute albeit in a dorky American way.
4. It was over a spilled paired of soldiers underwear that an unlikely friendship formed. Or at least that is how Ha Lien interpreted their relationship in the following month until the soldier finally asked her to share a coke with him and it occurred to Ha Lien that he may fancy her.
5. In time at around six months of dating, Hiram asked Ha Lien to marry him which both surprised, enjoyed, and conflicted Ha Lien. Conflicted Ha Lien in that she of course had to persuade her parents at first who were hesitant but when she told them how she could get a job in america and send money back home to them to help them. That and a week of thinking on the subject finally gave Ha Lien the answer she wanted, after all that she finally accepted Hiram’s proposal officially.
6. After a lot.. and I mean a lot of legal paper work thanks to the military seemingly actively discouraging marriages like Ha Lien’s and Hiram’s from occurring but they persevered and became legally married in time.
7. Now from the love story to the modern one. Ha Lien or as she is called by her neighbors Helen, is still trying to adjust to the United States. “It’s.. so.. cold…” fortunately Hiram doesn’t seem to mind the electric blanket becoming a common aspect of their bedroom routine. Ha Lien likes studying and bettering her English through day time television and gardening these days in the Keegan suburban garden.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE

Dark brown eyes stared at the blue of the pool. The blue of the chlorine and water was calming in a way to the man who struggled to make sense of the daily conversation attempts Americans tried to make with him in English. But wasn’t Enrico American? He considered the thought while gazing at the water. Certainly his parents wanted him to have a better life in this country and to do so meant becoming American.. didn’t it? And if he became “American” Enrico wondered if he would be losing the only thing he had of home was memories and the values instilled by his upbringing.

It did not take long for the dark green button up shirt to be removed by Enrico. He tossed it to the left of his chair and then carefully removed the blanket wrapped neatly around his “legs”. The blanket was nice and warm, good for cold nights outside but terrible for the water. Besides Enrico thought he would look more ridiculous trying to swim with it, not that he would after all.

Once the Cuban folded the blanket and gently reached down to let it fall to the tiles to the right of his chair. The sound of suckers squishing and sucking to the tiles, Enrico’s at the moment red colored tentacles reached down to touch the smooth tile surrounding the pool. Slowly the young man dragged himself out of the wheelchair and only for the briefest moment was on the tiles before again like a mind of their own. Enrico made his tentacles move outstretched toward the hedge of the pool, sucker on and leisurely pull the brown skin lad toward the edge until he slipped in under the water.

The cool water embraced him in a hug that comforted Rodigruez. Only the sound of the water around him as he sunk below the water until he lower half rested against the bottom of the pool, his red tentacles and two longer tentacles were outstretched around the lad anchoring him to the bottom as he breathed the water. From above it either looked exactly like it was, a mutant with squid like features taking a swim.. or a butterfly that in a moment of peace has blossomed to show its red petals. Enrico knew that he could not stay like this for long as the chlorine in the water would make him sick after a while, however a moment of peace like this even for half an hour wouldn’t hurt.. right?
